| 1. Always have labs done at QUEST Diagnostics. Having it done in the doctor's office costs you and the college more. |
2. You should not pay co pays for any X-ray prescribed by a doctor, including mammograms. |
| 3. Instead of the emergency room, try going to Urgent Care if your condition warrants it. You can also go to a Minute Clinic at one of your local drug stores and pay only the GP co-pay. |
| 4. Even if you subscribe to the HMO, you do not need a referral from your GP to see a specialist or to have an X-ray. We have an Open Access plan. |
| 5. If you subscribe to the HMO, doctors cannot back bill you for anything; neither can Quest Diagnostics. Do not pay any bill if you have already paid a co-pay without contacting Human Resources first. |
| 6. Do not pay for a drug out of your pocket before checking to see why it is not covered. Some drugs need approval from your doctor or Aetna before they are approved. Do not pay until that process has taken place. |
| 7. Even if you have the POS, it is better to use a doctor from the network. Aetna has prearranged payments with these doctors, so you pay less. |
| 8. When in doubt, always call Aetna. If you don't get satisfaction or if you think you are being charged incorrectly, call Human Resources. |
